Sharon Brindley - JALA JALA TREATS PTY LTD

Sharon Brindley is a Yamatiji/Noongar woman and the proud owner of Cooee Café, the only Indigenous café on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. In 2020, Sharon launched her wholesale supply business, Jala Jala Treats.

Sharon grew up on Bunurong country (the Mornington Peninsula) but spent a lot of her childhood days in Kalgoorlie with her grandmother. “She would take me out to the bush and teach me how to live off the land,” says Sharon. “I’ve developed my love for cooking and knowledge of Indigenous ingredients and native flavours. Many years later, I am sharing the same excitement that was kindled then, using some of the same ingredients and flavours in my businesses.”

Sharon is passionate about promoting these true flavours of Australia and awakening people both locally and internationally to their flavours and healthy properties. “I like to incorporate Indigenous ingredients into everyday cooking and showcase to the world the incredible qualities of native plants through delicious treats,” says Sharon.

In her Wajarri language, Jala Jala means VERY GOOD. “I’ve created delicious treats to go with the name,” she says.

Jala Jala Treats supplies Corporate and Government entities and boutique retailers and we are continually adding new stockists for our delicious Indigenous-flavoured chocolate bars, slices and coffee.
